A Christian man in northwestern China has reportedly been detained for 15 days after authorities discovered him listening to an audio recording of the Bible while traveling with his family.
The believer, identified only as “Brother AK” for security reasons, was driving through a predominantly Muslim region of China when his family encountered a government checkpoint, according to an Aug. 13 report from Premier Christian News citing the persecution watchdog Open Doors.
What might be considered an ordinary act of faith in much of the world — listening to Scripture during a car ride — quickly became the focus of questioning by Chinese authorities.
