Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, backed by funding from billionaire George Soros, is making headlines once again. This time, Krasner is reportedly considering pursuing state charges against individuals pardoned by President Donald Trump for their involvement in the events of January 6, 2021.
In one of his first official acts as President earlier this week, Trump issued more than 1,500 pardons to January 6 defendants. The bold move was celebrated by many on the right as a step toward justice for individuals they say were unfairly targeted by federal prosecutors. However, as many anticipated, a Democrat district attorney has stepped in to potentially upend these pardons with state-level legal action.

Krasner is specifically targeting January 6 defendants who reside in Pennsylvania, arguing that state charges may still be viable despite the federal pardons. Speaking to CNN reporter Marshall Cohen, Krasner admitted the legal challenges involved, particularly concerning double jeopardy laws.
