Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) weighed in, calling the appendix “one of the biggest political scandals and cover-ups in American history.”
One source speaking to Fox News said that the appendix didn’t outline every piece of surveillance involved but offered “with alarming specificity” the steps the FBI would later take. The document reportedly included foreign intelligence links directly tying back to Soros’s operation.
According to the appendix, Russian hackers allegedly breached the Open Society Foundation’s email servers in 2016. It stated, “Two of the apparently hacked emails appear to have originated from the Open Society Foundations,” and identified the sender as Leonard Bernardo, then regional director for Eurasia.
In a stunning alleged email from Bernardo, he wrote: “During the first stage of the campaign, due to lack of direct evidence, it was decided to disseminate the necessary information through the FBI-affiliated…technical structures… in particular, the Crowdstrike and ThreatConnect companies, from where the information would then be disseminated through leading U.S. publications.”
He went further: “The media analysis on the DNC hacking appears solid…. Julie (Clinton Campaign Advisor) says it will be a long-term affair to demonize Putin and Trump. Now it is good for a post-convention bounce,” Bernardo allegedly wrote. “Later the FBI will put more oil into the fire.”
Another email supposedly authored by Bernardo dropped a bigger bomb: “HRC (Hillary Rodham Clinton) approved Julie’s idea about Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections.”
Bernardo allegedly continued: “This should distract people from her own missing email, especially if the affair goes to the Olympic level. The point is making the Russian play a U.S. domestic issue. Say something like a critical infrastructure threat for the election to feel manic since both POTUS and VPOTUS have acknowledge the fact IC would speed up searching for evidence that is regrettably still unavailable.”
Just days after that email was allegedly sent, the FBI officially kicked off its “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation on July 31, 2016.
Durham’s appendix also notes that his team interviewed several FBI agents involved in that probe and believed the emails attributed to Bernardo were “likely authentic.”
In addition, the report revealed that the Clinton campaign not only supported the effort but anticipated help from inside the government itself. “The Clinton campaign ‘might have wanted or expected the FBI or other agencies to aid that effort (“put more oil into the fire”) by commencing a formal investigation of the DNC hack,’” the appendix reads.
More damning evidence reportedly shows that senior elements within the FBI, the vice president’s office, and parts of the broader intelligence community were expected to assist in the scheme.
Durham’s annex concluded that the emails “were ultimately a composite of several emails that were obtained through Russian intelligence hacking of the U.S.-based Think Tanks, including the Open Society Foundations, the Carnegie Endowment, and others.”
He further stated: “It is a logical deduction (redacted) (Julianne) Smith was, at minimum, playing a role in the Clinton campaign’s efforts to tie Trump to Russia,” and noted that the communication reviewed “certainly lends at least some credence that such a plan existed.”
Finally, Durham’s conclusion couldn’t have been more damning: the FBI, despite having clear signs it was being manipulated by the Clinton machine, “failed to act” and allowed itself to be weaponized in an unprecedented smear operation against a presidential candidate.
