“SICK STUFF” Happening in College Locker Rooms

The lawsuit states that Sheppard was informed about “the abusive locker room environment’’ but failed to take disciplinary or corrective actions. Instead, the dangerous hazing reportedly continued under his watch.

One of the more harrowing incidents detailed in the lawsuit involved the then-17-year-old athlete being forced to wrestle a much larger upperclassman. “I was spitting blood everywhere,” the student recalled. “It was a feeling that I’m really never gonna forget.”

He described suffering multiple injuries during the altercation, which he claims was not an isolated event but part of an ongoing pattern of abuse.

“What’s going on in the locker room is some sick, sick stuff,” he told the press.

Promises of a Dream Career Derailed

The athlete said he had been heavily recruited by top programs but chose Seton Hall based on its reputation and track record of sending players to Major League Baseball.

“That’s every kid’s dream,” he said. “We thought it was going to be a good fit, but obviously didn’t end up that way.”

But what started as a promising career quickly turned into a nightmare. The lawsuit claims that hazing began with freshmen being ordered to shave their heads. That was followed by a twisted ritual involving forced nudity.

“We’ve got to see what you’ve got down there,” the lawsuit states one upperclassman told the younger players.

“The locker room erupted in laughter,” the suit added.

Then came the wrestling — and eventually, more grotesque traditions.

Humiliation Escalated: Public Masturbation, Nude Wrestling Alleged

The student claimed that he was later subjected to “public masturbation and nude wrestling,” describing a pattern of degrading behavior intended to humiliate and control new recruits. The lawsuit says this abuse was systemic and well-known within the team.

After enduring months of mistreatment, the player said he reached a breaking point and approached Sheppard, telling him he was quitting the team.

“Sheppard expressed disappointment, but took no meaningful action to address the issues,” the legal filing states.

The student transferred to a Division III college, losing a season of eligibility in the process.

“It was a dark time for me — I was sad, depressed,” he said. “I was down in the dumps every day.”

“To spend my whole life trying to get to that point, and I finally got there, and then had this all happen, and it’s just derailed my whole career,” the athlete added.

University Issues Generic Response

Seton Hall spokesperson Michael Hyland released a brief statement, attempting to reassure the public without addressing any of the lawsuit’s specific claims.

“Seton Hall is firmly committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment,” Hyland said. “Upon learning of certain allegations earlier this year, the University promptly retained a nationally respected third-party investigator to conduct an independent and thorough review. As litigation is ongoing, we are unable to comment further at this time.”

No Accountability Yet

Despite the shocking nature of the claims, there has been no public indication that Coach Sheppard or any staff members have faced disciplinary action. Meanwhile, a once-promising baseball talent has watched his future dissolve under the weight of trauma, pain, and silence.

The case is a grim reminder that beneath the surface of college athletics, unchecked power and culture can destroy lives — and that silence from those in charge can be just as damaging as the abuse itself.
