In a stunning admission that has left many Americans scratching their heads, the Biden administration has acknowledged it lacks the authority to shoot down unidentified drones buzzing over critical areas along the East Coast. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas revealed the federal government’s alarming inability to address the situation effectively during an interview with CNN.
The reports of drones include sightings over sensitive locations such as the Naval Weapons Station Earle in New Jersey. Bill Addison, the public affairs officer for the station, confirmed multiple incidents involving drones in restricted airspace. Addison assured that “the base remains prepared to respond to any potential risks, leveraging robust security measures and advanced detection capabilities.” Despite these assurances, the federal response has been shockingly limited.

Secretary Mayorkas admitted to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that the government’s ability to respond to these incidents is hampered by restrictive laws. “Our authorities are very limited,” Mayorkas said. “We have various authorities that are discreet to their particular missions. We can’t just shoot a drone out of the sky.”
