It’s been a year since Thomas Crooks opened fire at former President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Until now, much of what happened behind the scenes was shrouded in silence. But thanks to a damning new report by Senator Chuck Grassley, we now know the terrifying truth: the Secret Service had a plan to stop the gunman—until a campaign staffer killed it over “optics.”
That’s right. A campaign operative reportedly told the Secret Service not to block a sniper’s vantage point with farm equipment… because it would look bad in press photos.
According to the Government Accountability Office, “a Trump campaign staffer ‘asked members of the Secret Service advance team not to use large farm equipment to address line-of-sight concerns near one of the buildings — the AGR building — located near the rally presentation stage.’” The staffer claimed it would interfere with media visuals, then pressured the agents to find a “different solution.”
