A horrifying betrayal is unfolding right now in Dubai, and once again, the Biden administration is nowhere to be found. Thirty-two Afghan families who stood shoulder to shoulder with American forces during the war—loyal allies who followed the legal process for U.S. relocation—are now facing a chilling ultimatum: “self-deport” back to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan or die waiting.
These families had escaped the chaos of Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and made it to a refugee camp in the United Arab Emirates. For the past four years, they’ve been trapped—stripped of rights, unable to leave the camp, but holding out hope that the country they risked everything to help would eventually bring them to safety.
Instead, they’ve been served up to their enemies.
On July 16, camp officials ordered the refugees to surrender their passports—just one day before inviting a so-called Taliban “Ambassador” and other Taliban figures into the camp. That’s right. The same Taliban that hunted, tortured, and murdered American allies under the guise of “amnesty” was brought in to a room filled with those who had fought beside U.S. troops. These refugees were forced to attend a gathering with the same monsters they had escaped.
