A former IRS official once embroiled in one of the most politically explosive scandals of the Obama administration has quietly climbed back into power — and a conservative watchdog is calling for her immediate dismissal.
Holly Paz, a key figure in the notorious Tea Party targeting debacle, is now running a major division at the IRS under the Biden administration. Paz was the right-hand woman to disgraced IRS Commissioner Lois Lerner, who became the face of the agency’s political witch hunt against conservative organizations during the lead-up to the 2012 presidential election.

Now, Paz has resurfaced as the Commissioner of the Large Business and International Division, according to the IRS’s own website. This unit oversees the tax affairs of massive corporations and high-wealth individuals — a position of enormous influence and power.
That revelation has triggered outrage among government oversight advocates.
The American Accountability Foundation (AAF), a conservative watchdog, is demanding Paz’s ouster. In a letter sent to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, AAF warned that the IRS is once again playing partisan games, with Paz’s return to leadership serving as Exhibit A.
