Small tent towns in parking lots are being offered as “safe sleeping” locations in San Diego, California for the homeless. It’s important to keep in mind that July’s weather might be rather warm.
For taking this measure in reaction to their recent prohibition on camping in public locations, the city deserves praise. The implementation of this prohibition will take around a month.

But to the untrained eye, there seem to be several problems with this circumstance.

‘Safe sleeping site’ tents for the homeless are unveiled for the first time in San Diego.
By opening the first of two “safe sleeping” spaces, San Diego takes a step toward assisting the homeless. The project attempts to give homeless individuals a safe place to live.
The city’s Homeless Strategies and Solutions Department announced in June that it will be expanding its offerings. Their objective is to provide a range of housing solutions in order to alleviate the ongoing homelessness epidemic.
“We are bringing forward a comprehensive shelter strategy with detailed proposals for the short, medium and long terms that include expanded shelter, more safe parking and safe sleeping offerings,” Todd Gloria, the mayor of San Diego, remarked at the time.
In San Diego, a brand-new tent campground opens its doors to people in need of refuge. The Central Operations Yard will shelter up to 150 personnel in 136 tents, according to city authorities.
