The Trump administration is taking action against a Cuban diplomatic official following a confrontation at the United Nations, with Ambassador Mike Waltz warning that Washington will not tolerate alleged physical intimidation of American representatives.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has ordered a Cuban diplomat to leave the United States following a tense confrontation involving American and Cuban officials at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz announced the decision Tuesday evening during an appearance on Fox News’ Hannity, telling host Sean Hannity that the administration had already begun the process of removing the Cuban official from the country.
According to Waltz, the incident went beyond a heated diplomatic disagreement. He accused the Cuban representative of shoving an American diplomat and attempting to interfere with the official’s cellphone while the confrontation was being recorded.
