Roy Cooper BLOCKS Troops for Hurricane Helene Recovery!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

“President Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III have authorized the movement of up to 1,000 active-duty military personnel to support the delivery of food, water, and other critical aid to communities impacted by Hurricane Helene,” the statement read.

The troops, forming part of an Infantry Battalion Task Force from the XVII Airborne Corps, include members of the 82nd Airborne and other units stationed at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. According to the governor’s office, these soldiers are equipped with vital resources like fuel, water, and mechanical support, which are essential for stabilizing communities ravaged by the storm. The plan was for them to assemble and move to affected areas within 24 hours.

However, according to reports from The Federalist’s Sean Davis, the deployment is being held up by a significant bureaucratic snag. Governor Cooper has yet to finalize the mission orders required to send these troops into action. This delay is causing frustration, as many believe the window to save lives and restore basic services is rapidly closing.

Meanwhile, criticism continues to mount regarding the administration’s financial priorities. In stark contrast to the billions of dollars sent overseas to support Ukraine, families affected by Hurricane Helene are reportedly receiving a mere $750 per household for their recovery efforts.

For many, this sum seems woefully inadequate given the scale of the destruction. Moreover, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is also under fire. The agency reportedly doesn’t have enough funding to meet the needs of disaster-stricken Americans because a significant portion of its resources have been allocated elsewhere.

“FEMA estimates it will fall $7 billion short of the funds needed to manage new disasters,” reports say, highlighting the agency’s dwindling budget. This financial shortfall is being blamed on years of funneling taxpayer dollars into programs for illegal immigrants, rather than prioritizing American disaster relief.

As the Biden-Harris administration continues to shift resources to resettle illegal immigrants, FEMA’s capacity to respond to domestic crises has been severely hampered. Instead of focusing on rebuilding shattered communities, repairing critical infrastructure, or preparing for future natural disasters, it appears that disaster victims are being left to fend for themselves as taxpayer dollars are diverted elsewhere.

This isn’t just a momentary lapse in judgment but rather part of a long-term trend, critics argue. The Biden administration has been accused of prioritizing immigration programs over the welfare of American citizens, particularly in times of crisis.

As families in North Carolina wait for help that may never come, and with FEMA openly admitting that Congress has not appropriated the necessary funds for disaster relief, the situation appears increasingly dire. FEMA’s financial mismanagement, paired with delays in troop deployment, is making the recovery process an uphill battle for the communities devastated by Hurricane Helene.

With pressure mounting on Governor Cooper and the Biden administration, North Carolina’s residents are left wondering how much longer they’ll have to wait for the help they were promised.
