Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), long branded a RINO by grassroots conservatives, has stunned the political world by announcing he won’t pursue another term in the Senate. The announcement lands mere hours after former President Donald Trump made clear he’s preparing to back primary challengers against Republican incumbents he considers disloyal.
Tillis, who’s faced growing frustration from MAGA voters, finally pulled the plug on his Senate career in the wake of intense criticism from Trump. The former president lambasted the senator on social media, accusing him of failing the people of North Carolina and labeling him “NOT A DOER.”
“Thom Tillis has hurt the great people of North Carolina. Even on the catastrophic flooding, nothing was done to help until I took office. Then a MIRACLE took place!” Trump wrote on Sunday morning. “Tillis is a talker and complainer, NOT A DOER! He’s even worse than Rand ‘Fauci’ Paul!”
