A tense congressional hearing quickly turned into a political spectacle when Minnesota Governor Tim Walz appeared before lawmakers to answer questions about a massive fraud scandal tied to his administration. But before the discussion even reached the billions of dollars allegedly stolen from taxpayer-funded programs, one Republican lawmaker delivered a brutal political jab that instantly ignited social media.
Texas Rep. Pat Fallon wasted little time setting the tone for the hearing. His remarks drew laughter in the room and quickly spread online, as he laid out what he argued was the real reason Walz ended up on the national ticket as Kamala Harris’s running mate.
According to Fallon, the pattern of vice presidential picks in Democratic administrations says everything voters need to know.
Fallon argued that former President Barack Obama selected Joe Biden because he wanted someone who would not overshadow him politically. He then said Biden applied the same thinking when he chose Harris.
“And then, in 2024, Governor, I think it’s very evident why Kamala Harris picked you,” Fallon said. “The talent pool isn’t just shallow, brother – we have hit the shore.”
