Actor Dennis Quaid and Tucker Carlson have an interesting discussion in episode 64 regarding the government’s ignored threat to the US power grid.
Tucker Carlson: Well, I could ask you a million questions, but I want to get straight to the project you worked on regarding our power grid, which is coming up soon. Could you briefly describe this to us and explain why you did it?

Dennis Quaid: Grid down, power up is the term for it. It also deals with a problem that has truly worried me for a while. The basic idea is that there is a 100% chance that our sun will produce a GMD, or giant magnetic storm depression, which is a powerful solar storm that can destroy everything electric above ground, including our entire grid. They discussed this in a brief 60-minute segment.
Tucker: And naturally, this would take place. Of course. And the sun does exactly that.
Quaid: That has taken place. An event known as the Carrington event occurred in, what I believe to be, 1859. And as far as electricity was concerned, at that time we essentially had telegraph lines, and it fried our entire telegraph system. It needed to be changed after being set up, and
Tucker: Everything?
Quaid: Everything about it. Imagine what that would do in the event of a very big storm, which is 100% likely to occur. And that happened a century ago. That one is called.
Tucker: Additionally, although I struggle with math,
Quaid: Replacing all of that would require trillions of dollars. Furthermore, since our society generates its own electricity, it would destroy not just the electricity but also all of our infrastructure, meaning we would not even be able to spend those trillions of dollars. Without it, we have no idea how to survive. Yes, when you turn it on, the tap would be filled with water, and the entire system would not function properly, making it impossible to fill up your car with gas. Everything on which we depend would vanish. The food in our refrigerators would get melted. They estimate that roughly 90% of the population would perish from disease, famine, or other causes within a year. And it descends once more to the Stone Age.
Tucker: Murdering one another?
Dennis: Yeah.
Tucker: That’s an interesting piece of information.
Quaid: Really brightens your day, doesn’t it?
Tucker: Indeed, it does. To be honest, I’m just kind of adding that to the growing Armageddon file.
Quaid: Not much is being said about it. In order to fortify our grid and guard against a similar incident occurring, President Trump actually signed an executive order. Obama made an effort to start that as well. Since the majority of our grid power companies are privately owned, you can understand their reluctance to spend money on potential outcomes. However, it is stuck in these regulatory agencies and lobbyists. But this will undoubtedly happen.
