Washington, D.C. saw a major law enforcement sweep this week as U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro revealed a series of arrests targeting a large-scale drug trafficking operation tied to violent crime in the nation’s capital. The crackdown comes as part of President Donald Trump’s aggressive effort to restore law and order to the city.
Federal agents carried out nearly 20 search warrants across D.C., Maryland, and Los Angeles on Tuesday after a year-long investigation exposed a massive drug ring allegedly flooding the streets with fentanyl and PCP. The operation centered near the 2900 block of Knox Place SE, an area that has seen a wave of homicides and violent crime over the past year.
Authorities say the raids turned up a dangerous arsenal. “Eighteen firearms—including an AR-style rifle, a shotgun, and a Draco-style pistol—were recovered,” the Department of Justice confirmed, along with “a pill press used to manufacture fentanyl pills, more than two kilograms of suspected narcotics, and over $50,000 in cash.”
