President Donald Trump is reportedly reviewing a series of military strategies aimed at Iran, as tensions between Washington and Tehran reach new heights. Pentagon officials have been drafting what insiders are calling a potential “massive final blow,” signaling that Trump is prepared to respond forcefully if diplomacy falters.
Sources tell Axios that Trump has been presented with four main options, including deploying U.S. troops for a possible ground operation targeting Kharg Island, a pivotal hub in Iran’s oil infrastructure. These plans, officials emphasize, remain “hypothetical” but are under serious consideration as Trump claims Iranian leaders are eager to strike a deal—even as Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, publicly denies any negotiations.
The Pentagon’s proposals reportedly include invading or blockading Kharg Island, seizing Larak Island—which helps control the Strait of Hormuz—and taking Abu Musa along with two smaller islands near the critical shipping lane. Another plan could focus on intercepting Iranian oil shipments at sea, sources told Axios, aiming to cripple Tehran’s economic lifeline without waiting for prolonged talks.
