Attorney General Pam Bondi delivered a major announcement Friday morning that reignited one of the most painful chapters in recent American history. More than a decade after the deadly terrorist assault on the US diplomatic compound in Benghazi, the FBI has finally arrested one of the key individuals accused of taking part in the attack.
The assault took place on September 11, 2012, exactly eleven years after the attacks on the World Trade Center. Before that date, most Americans had barely heard of Benghazi. Afterward, the name became synonymous with government failure, unanswered questions, and the deaths of four Americans who were left exposed in a hostile region.
That night, Islamic terrorists stormed the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, killing four Americans, including US Ambassador Chris Stevens. The attack shocked the nation and immediately raised questions about security decisions, military readiness, and leadership at the highest levels of government.
