New Twist in Canada Mass Shooting Case

A quiet Canadian town is reeling after a horrifying massacre left at least nine people dead and more than two dozen injured at a high school in British Columbia — and troubling new details are beginning to emerge about the alleged shooter.

According to an independent Canadian outlet, Juno News, the gunman responsible for Tuesday’s bloodshed at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School has been identified by a family member as a transgender-identifying male. While major corporate media outlets have yet to independently confirm the identity, Juno News reported that it spoke directly with the suspect’s uncle.

That uncle, identified as Russell G. Strang, confirmed that the shooter was his nephew, Jesse Strang. The attack unfolded in the small community of Tumbler Ridge, a town of roughly 2,500 residents in northeastern British Columbia. By the end of the rampage, at least nine were dead and at least 25 others were wounded.

Authorities later confirmed that the suspect also died. According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, officials believe the fatal injury was self-inflicted.
