Federal authorities have launched a full-scale investigation after a deadly shooting involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents sparked a massive law enforcement response in Biddeford, Maine, on Monday morning.
The incident unfolded on Pool Street near Hill Street, where authorities quickly locked down the area as investigators descended on the scene. Multiple agencies, including the FBI, Maine State Police, and the Biddeford Police Crime Scene Unit, were seen processing evidence throughout the morning. Numerous evidence markers lined the roadway while two large investigative canopies were erected as officials worked to document the scene.
According to early reports, the shooting occurred after an individual allegedly attempted to use a vehicle to strike an ICE agent. An eyewitness who spoke with the Portland Press Herald claimed an agent opened fire after the suspect tried to “ram” the officer with the vehicle. Federal authorities have not yet confirmed that account, but investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter.
