In a stunning claim made on Friday, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries alleged that multiple Democratic lawmakers in Connecticut were the targets of bomb threats on Thanksgiving Day. According to Jeffries’ office, the threats, which included detailed mentions of pipe bombs and incidents of swatting, were signed with the phrase “MAGA.”
“Threats of violence against elected officials are unacceptable, unconscionable, and have no place in a civilized society,” Jeffries’ office stated in response to the incidents. The statement further called for the perpetrators of such acts to be “prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

The Democratic lawmakers reportedly targeted included Sen. Chris Murphy and Representatives Jim Himes, Joe Courtney, John Larson, Jahana Hayes, and Rosa DeLauro. Despite the alarming nature of the threats, law enforcement did not find any evidence of actual explosive devices at their residences, as confirmed by Jeffries’ office.
