And when CNN’s Jake Tapper actually pressed her for answers, the Democrat congresswoman delivered one of the weakest excuses Washington has heard all year.

CNN Finally Asks a Tough Question — Omar Panics Anyway

Ilhan Omar was visibly uncomfortable when Jake Tapper asked her to explain how Minnesota became ground zero for one of the largest COVID-era fraud schemes in the country. Instead of straight answers, viewers got a stuttering attempt at blame-shifting.

“I think what happened, um, is that, you know, when you have these, kind of new programs that are, um, designed to help people, you’re oftentimes relying on third parties to be able to facilitate,” Omar said. “And I just think that a lot of the COVID programs that were set up — they were set up so quickly that a lot of the guardrails did not get created.”
