Commissioner Tim Tipton didn’t sugarcoat it: “You don’t have a minor collision with a commercial vehicle. An 80,000-pound truck at 70 miles an hour isn’t going to be a minor crash.”
Think about that the next time one of these rigs roars up behind your minivan.
Biden’s Border Policies Meet America’s Roads
This wasn’t a few traffic tickets. It was a full-blown public safety crisis. Operation Guardian exposed what happens when Washington refuses to enforce the border – the fallout doesn’t stay in Texas or Arizona. It ends up on the interstates, with unqualified drivers operating machines that can flatten a school bus.
Governor Kevin Stitt’s team dug deeper. The results should make every taxpayer furious. Oklahoma spends roughly $36,000 every single day to house 525 undocumented criminals. And the crimes aren’t small.
Nearly one-third involve violent offenses against children. Another 20% are violent assaults. Fourteen percent are homicides and other violent deaths. Seven percent are sex crimes. According to state data, 72% of these offenders come from Mexico, followed by Guatemala, Honduras, and Vietnam.
Governor Stitt put it plainly: “Former President Biden’s weak border policies allowed our country to become a safe haven for criminal illegal migrants – that ends in Oklahoma with Operation Guardian.”
Stitt Connects the Dots
Most politicians talk about border security as an abstract issue. Stitt connected it directly to what Oklahoma families see on their roads. Instead of waiting for Washington, he created a partnership with ICE that gives state troopers the authority to hold offenders until federal agents can take them.
Even better, the state launched a Rapid REPAT program that allows inmates with deportation orders to waive their appeals and get sent back immediately. No catch-and-release. No loopholes. No repeat offenders slipping out to drive another rig.
Tipton said it best: “This plan ensures Oklahoma leads the nation in cracking down on illegal aliens who’ve committed crimes against our communities.”
Leadership That Works
Families know the highways feel more dangerous. Operation Guardian explains why – and proves that leadership makes the difference. While the Biden Administration left the highways to chance, Oklahoma took action.
Instead of endless speeches about “comprehensive reform,” Stitt delivered results. Dangerous drivers are being taken off the road. Criminal aliens are being deported. And families are safer for it.
It’s no wonder other red state governors are already eyeing Oklahoma’s playbook. As Biden’s failures pile up, Trump-aligned leaders are showing what America First policies look like in action.
The message is clear: if you want safer highways and secure borders, you need leaders with the spine to act. Oklahoma just showed the rest of the nation how it’s done.
