A former top official from the Obama White House has abruptly stepped down after newly surfaced emails revealed an extensive and troubling line of communication with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Kathryn Ruemmler, who served as White House counsel under President Barack Obama and most recently held the powerful role of chief legal officer at Goldman Sachs, has resigned following reports that she exchanged thousands of messages with Epstein — including correspondence sent years after his 2008 conviction.
The revelations have ignited outrage and renewed scrutiny of Epstein’s high-profile network.

In a 2015 birthday email to Epstein, Ruemmler wrote, “I hope you enjoy the day with your one true love :-).” She signed additional messages with “xoxo.”
In one particularly disturbing exchange, Epstein sent a vulgar joke, writing, “they say that men usually gvie [sic] a name to their penis, as [it] would be inappropriate to make love to a total stranger.”
