House Republicans immediately noticed something odd: Democrats had redacted the name of the victim — even though the Epstein Estate itself did not redact it. That individual was Virginia Giuffre, who tragically passed away earlier this year.
Republicans blasted the move, noting that Giuffre has long stated publicly that Trump was never involved in Epstein’s abuse. They pointed out:
“Why did Democrats cover up the name when the Estate didn’t redact it in the redacted documents…? It’s because the victim, Virginia Giuffre, publicly stated that she never witnessed wrongdoing by President Trump.”
Giuffre’s sworn testimony was crystal clear. She testified that President Trump “didn’t partake in any sex with us” and “Donald Trump never flirted with me.”
Instead of harming Trump, the email actually hinted at Epstein’s suspicion that Trump might have been cooperating with authorities. Epstein noted Trump had “never once been mentioned” by law enforcement and said he was “75% there,” suggesting he believed Trump might be the “dog that hasn’t barked” — a reference to a Sherlock Holmes clue involving someone the dog trusted.
There’s more supporting evidence. Attorney Bradley Edwards, who represented Giuffre in 2018, famously said in an interview:
“The only thing that I can say about President Trump is that he is the only person who, in 2009…was the only person who picked up the phone and said, ‘Lets just talk. I’ll give you as much time as you want. I’ll tell you what you need to know.’”
Edwards added that Trump was “very helpful” and provided credible information.
Even former Speaker Mike Johnson stirred controversy after referencing this interview, though he later clarified he was simply quoting Edwards — who never claimed Trump was tied to the FBI.
While the full context of the 2011 message isn’t known, the available evidence lines up with Edwards’ firsthand experience: Trump cooperated, and Democrats concealed the victim whose testimony cleared him.
The second email, dated January 31, 2019, involved Epstein messaging author Michael Wolff. He wrote:
“[REDACTED VICTIM] mara lago. [REDACTED SENTENCE] . trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever. . of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop —”
The wording contradicted years of media claims that Trump “banned” Epstein from Mar-a-Lago. Epstein’s statement suggested something entirely different — and yet again, Democrats chose to redact the identity of the victim involved.
The third email was even more alarming. On December 15, 2015 — the night of a GOP presidential debate — Wolff warned Epstein that Trump might be questioned “about his relationship with you.”
Epstein asked:
“if we were able to craft an answer for him, what do you think it should be?”
Wolff’s reply exposed his willingness to weaponize Trump’s words:
“I think you should let him hang himself…that gives you a valuable PR and political currency…You can hang him…or, if it really looks like he could win, you could save him, generating a debt.”
A year later, just before Election Day 2016, Wolff emailed again, mentioning an “opportunity” to “help finish [Trump].”
A journalist secretly coordinating with a convicted sex offender to “finish” a presidential candidate? That is the scandal — not anything involving Trump.
Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) claimed: “The more Donald Trump tries to cover up the Epstein files, the more we uncover.” But the files Democrats released raise a very different question:
Why did Democrats redact the one person who publicly defended Trump — and why was Michael Wolff collaborating with a predator to gather “political currency” against a presidential candidate?
What Democrats hoped would damage Trump instead exposed media collusion, selective editing, and an effort to hide testimony that cleared the former president.
