House Democrats are once again stepping into a political minefield that many voters thought had already been buried after the fallout of 2020. This time, the flashpoint is not local police departments, but federal immigration enforcement. And Republicans are wasting no time drawing a direct line between the two.
At the center of the storm is House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who has launched a discharge petition in the middle of an ongoing Department of Homeland Security shutdown. The move is being framed by Democrats as an attempt to restore funding to critical DHS functions. But Republicans say the fine print tells a very different story.
Jeffries’ proposal would fund large portions of DHS operations, including TSA agents, FEMA personnel, and the Coast Guard. However, it notably excludes funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection. Those two agencies are responsible for border security, drug interdiction, and investigating transnational crime networks.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise did not mince words when describing what he believes the proposal really represents. “If you look, they fund everything except the law enforcement side, which is defunding the police,” Scalise told Fox News Digital. “So here they go again. Democrats, for some reason, just hate law enforcement.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is a TRADER to America and “We The People” and should resign immediately or get voted out buy his own Democratic Party if anyone in his party has even half a brain concerning what their constituents because it is their ETHICAL DUTY to do what their constituents want!
