The former First Lady ignited a wave of criticism after uploading a polished video of herself enjoying a high-end photoshoot—complete with stylists fussing over her hair, clothes, and makeup—only weeks after she publicly complained about having a “glam team” during her White House years. The contradiction wasn’t lost on anyone.
Obama posted the clip to Instagram on Friday, showing her surrounded by assistants adjusting every strand of hair and smoothing every crease in her outfit. The visuals alone clashed sharply with her recent commentary about supposedly disliking that very same luxury while she lived in the nation’s most famous residence.
Just days earlier, Obama sat down with Robin Roberts in an ABC special promoting her newest memoir, The Look, where she painted a dramatically different picture. In that interview, she lamented how her wardrobe staff, hair team, and makeup crew had simplified her daily life almost too much—a complaint many Americans found bizarre given their own struggles just to pay for groceries, let alone stylists.
