On Wednesday, OMG unveiled undercover footage capturing a senior Meta engineer, Jeevan Gyawali, candidly revealing the platform’s practice of demoting posts critical of Vice President Kamala Harris. According to Gyawali, users are never notified when their content is censored, leading to a silent reduction in their post’s visibility.

“Say your uncle in Ohio said something about Kamala Harris is unfit to be a president because she doesn’t have a child, that kind of sh*t is automatically demoted,” Gyawali confessed to the undercover journalist during a hidden camera meeting. He elaborated on Meta’s internal process, noting that posts are handled by the company’s “Integrity Team” through a system known as “civic classifiers.” This system is responsible for shadowbanning content without informing the users, causing posts to receive significantly lower engagement and impressions.
