The murder of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk sent shockwaves through the political world and intensified concerns about the safety of public figures appearing at campus events. Less than two weeks after Kirk was gunned down during an outdoor speaking engagement, journalist Megyn Kelly found herself confronting a frightening situation of her own.
According to Kelly, a detailed death threat arrived shortly before she was scheduled to appear at Virginia Tech as part of Turning Point USA’s speaking tour. The threat came at a time when emotions were already running high following Kirk’s assassination, making the warning impossible to dismiss.
Kelly later revealed that her longtime assistant, Abby Emerson, initially tried to keep the threatening message from reaching her.
