Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche addressed the threats directly, posting on X: “We are closely monitoring the attacks on DHS detention facilities in Prairieland, TX, and Portland, OR, and are coordinating with the USAOs and our law enforcement partners.”
He made the administration’s stance crystal clear: “The Department has zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property and will bring the full weight of the law against those responsible.”
That warning came just ahead of what authorities say was a planned ambush targeting a Border Patrol location—also in Texas. According to local reports, the chaos unfolded after a police officer from Alvarado, Texas, responded to a suspicious person near the Prairieland Detention Facility.
What started as a standard call quickly turned violent. Officers approached the suspect and were met with gunfire. One officer was struck in the neck. Miraculously, he survived, thanks to a fast airlift to a Fort Worth hospital and immediate treatment.
With backup from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and others, several heavily armed suspects were taken into custody after attempting to flee the scene. This was no random act—it was clearly a coordinated attack, and officials are treating it as such.
President Trump addressed the situation head-on, praising ICE and Border Patrol agents for their courage and resilience, especially in the face of growing threats from within our own borders.
