The world woke up to chaos in Venezuela early Saturday as massive explosions ripped through the nation’s capital and surrounding cities. What began as scattered reports quickly escalated into confirmation of direct United States military action against the socialist regime of Venezuelan strongman Nicolas Maduro.
This was not a drill.
Residents across Caracas described a terrifying night marked by thunderous blasts, low flying aircraft, and sudden power outages. Bright flashes lit up the sky in multiple locations, sending civilians rushing into the streets in shock and confusion as the Maduro regime appeared caught completely off guard.
Key military installations were among the locations affected, including Fort Tiuna, one of Venezuela’s most heavily fortified army bases, and La Carlota Air Base. Several neighborhoods reportedly lost electricity as the explosions echoed through the city.
