A Widow Speaks While the Left Seethes
The town hall was hosted by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and aired Saturday night. It focused on grief, political violence, and the moral rot that leads people to celebrate death.
During the event, Erika Kirk delivered a powerful and emotional message aimed at those who cheered her husband’s assassination.
“You’re sick,” Kirk told Weiss when asked what she’d say to people who celebrated Charlie’s death. “He’s a human being. You think he deserved that? Tell that to my three-year-old daughter.”
The words struck a nerve across the country.
They also triggered a meltdown on the activist Left.
Podcaster Calls for CBS Boycott
Welch responded by accusing CBS of becoming a propaganda outlet and demanded her followers punish the network financially.
“Okay. So during this Bari Weiss CBS takeover and her first town hall is to roll out Erica Kirk. Mind you, we have so many problems in our country right now,” Welch ranted on her podcast. “You have a massive financial, uh, economic burdens for so many working-class Americans. You have inflation out the wazoo, health care, all of these things. and she is bringing out Erika Kirk and it’s all they’ve covered for a week straight at CBS News.”
She then escalated the rhetoric and issued explicit marching orders.
“And listen up, listener, we have agency and we have autonomy,” Welch continued. “Everybody needs to boycott CBS News. They do not get to just come in and say journalism doesn’t matter anymore, we are going to do a propaganda channel. Well, they can do it, but they can’t do it without our money. They cannot do it without our money. They cannot do it if we apply pressure to those advertisers.”
A History of Celebrating Violence
What Welch did not tell her audience is far more revealing.
She has previously praised protesters who openly celebrated Charlie Kirk’s murder. Even more disturbing, she claimed that Kirk somehow justified his own assassination by supporting Second Amendment rights.
“The person that I heard that justified his death was him,” Welch said on her podcast just days ago. “He’s the one that said on tape that if school kids die, but it means he gets to have a Second Amendment, then that’s what it’s going to be.”
That grotesque distortion highlights the real reason Welch is angry.
Erika Kirk shattered the narrative.
A grieving widow speaking calmly and morally exposed the ugliness of activists who excuse violence when it targets political enemies.
The Hypocrisy Gets Worse
Welch’s record makes her outrage even harder to stomach.
She has previously referred to White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller as a “Nazi Jew,” a comment that sparked outrage but was quietly brushed aside in leftist circles.
Now the same figure is pretending to care about journalistic integrity while demanding censorship and advertiser intimidation.
The Jimmy Kimmel Precedent
Welch appears to believe her tactics can work.
She cited the temporary suspension of Jimmy Kimmel earlier this year after backlash over comments related to Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Major broadcast groups pulled “Jimmy Kimmel Live” after the host suggested the assassin was part of the MAGA movement. Advertiser pressure forced ABC to act.
Erika Kirk later explained how she responded when ABC asked if she wanted an apology.
“This is not our issue, not our mess,” Kirk explained to Jesse Watters. “If you want to say I’m sorry to someone who’s grieving, go right ahead. But if that’s not in your heart, don’t do it. I don’t want it. I don’t need it.”
That response revealed the difference between dignity and political exploitation.
Why the Left Is Really Afraid
CBS News is not promoting hate.
It is doing the opposite.
By giving Erika Kirk a platform, the network allowed Americans to see the humanity behind the headlines and the moral emptiness of those who celebrate death.
That is what truly terrifies Welch and others like her.
They cannot stand watching a grieving widow calmly dismantle their justifications for cruelty.
Welch closed her rant with revolutionary-style rhetoric that has become common on the activist Left.
“All of these fascists and all of these oligarchs think they control us and it’s our turn to remind them that we control them,” Welch declared. “Without our money, you’re nothing. Absolutely nothing.”
CBS News declined to comment on Welch’s demands.
But they do not need to.
Erika Kirk already delivered the most powerful response of all.
