A Bernie Sanders-endorsed Senate hopeful is facing a political meltdown after years-old social media posts revealed he once proudly called himself a communist and pushed for armed resistance against what he called “fascism.”
Graham Platner, a Marine and Army veteran now running to unseat Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine, is under fire after his disturbing Reddit history surfaced this week. In the unearthed posts, Platner slammed law enforcement, claiming “all” police are “bastards,” and openly described himself as a “communist.”

Even more alarming, Platner appeared to justify the use of violence, suggesting that Americans should arm themselves for a coming ideological battle. In one post, he declared, “if people expect to fight fascism without a good semi-automatic rifle, they ought to do some reading of history.” In another, he insisted, “an armed working class is a requirement for economic justice.”
These radical statements — first reported by CNN and Politico — were quietly deleted just before Platner announced his Senate run in August. The timing has only deepened suspicion among critics that the posts were scrubbed to conceal his extremist past.
