Lauren Boebert Just Destroyed DirecTV

Following DirecTV’s decision to drop Newsmax from its portfolio, Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado raised major concerns about the company. The Republican senator expressed concern that additional media organizations may soon be shut down for ideological reasons and foresaw a day when Americans would not have access to material judged to be “dissenting.”

Before she spoke before the House, fellow Republican Colorado Rep. Ken Buck introduced her and described her as “a young person who has set this place on fire since she’s been here.”

“Thank you so much. Definitely not literally. At midnight Tuesday, January 24th, 2023, Newsmax was removed from DirectTV’s stream, and U-verse denied 13 million customers to this highly-rated news channel. This is not the first time that we’ve seen this, and I’m afraid that it won’t be the last time that we are seeing this here in our great country. OAN, and was de-platformed by Direct TV in April of 2022. So what’s next? Fox News? Will the Weather Channel be canceled next, if they refuse to bow to the left’s alter of climate change,” Boebert said.

“What about the History Channel? We see on a regular basis, the left wants to erase history and deny the truth. How about TBN? There has definitely been an increase in disdain and intolerance by many liberals for Christian beliefs simply by saying we love Jesus. So is TBN next?” the representative said.

“Americans are tired of cancel culture. Conservatives are not being treated fairly. We’re the ones who are censored by big tech. We’re the ones targeted and called domestic terrorists, when moms and dads show up at school board meetings. We’re the ones targeted by the IRS because our organizations have the word patriot in their name. If you’re a conservative pastor, the government persecutes you. If you’re a liberal pastor, well, Joe Biden shows up to your church whether he realizes he’s there or not,” she said.

Contrary to early speculation, DirecTV made it clear that the contentious decision to terminate a particular contract was driven only by financial grounds and not by political concerns.

“On multiple occasions, we made it clear to Newsmax that we wanted to continue to offer the network, but ultimately Newsmax’s demands for rate increases would have led to significantly higher costs that we would have to pass on to our broad customer base,” the company said.

With its programs dominating the audience numbers, Fox News is driving the cable news scene. It’s obvious that Fox has a strong hold on the media landscape of today.

“After The Five, the highest-rated shows of the week were Tucker Carlson Tonight (3.086 million viewers), Jesse Watters Primetime (2.647 million viewers), Hannity (2.386 million viewers), and Special Report with Bret Baier (2.367 million viewers)—all airing on the Fox News Channel,” the report said.

Forbes reported: “In prime time, Fox News led the cable news networks with an average total audience of 1.996 million viewers—beating CNN and MSNBC combined. Overall, Fox had fully 92 of the 100 highest-rated cable news telecasts for the week. Among viewers 25-54, the demographic group most valued by advertisers, Tucker Carlson Tonight was first with 442,000 viewers, followed by The Five (374,000 viewers), Hannity (303,000 viewers), Jesse Watters Primetime (266,000 viewers) and Special Report with Bret Baier (256,000 viewers).”

With a total viewership of 1.260 million people, “Fox & Friends” outperformed its rivals, while “CNN This Morning” had its lowest week ever with 331,000 viewers and the MSNBC program “Morning Joe” averaged 760,000 viewers.

With 2.010 million viewers, the Fox News program “Gutfeld” outperformed its rivals, including Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC with an average of 1.819 million viewers and Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” on NBC with an average of 1.278 million viewers.

Since its premiere, Greg Gutfeld’s Fox News show “Gutfeld!” has been a resounding success. One of the most popular late-night television shows currently airing, the show averaged 2.1 million viewers in 2022 alone, according to Nielsen Media Research and The Washington Times.

“The size of that viewing audience bests both NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’ and ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and also consistently trumps such cable rivals as Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’ and HBO’s ‘Last Week Tonight’ and ‘Real Time With Bill Maher,’” the report said.

Vox, a news outlet that is recognized for being more liberal, said “The biggest comedy show on late-night right now is not on ABC or NBC or CBS or Fox. It’s not on Comedy Central. It’s certainly not streaming. It’s on Fox News, and its name is ‘Gutfeld!’”

CNN is making a late-night foray with the intention of competing with Gutfeld with a program that favors progressive viewpoints. This project will undoubtedly heat up the competition and provide fresh ideas.

“Brass at the famously progressive news network have reportedly floated names such as Bill Maher, Trevor Noah, Arsenio Hall, and Jon Stewart, as candidates, to offer a nontraditional, late-night-esque take on the day’s news. Fox News has found success with ‘Gutfeld!,’ the late-night comedy show hosted by Greg Gutfeld,” the Daily Mail said.
