For years, the mainstream press has relied on the same tired trick — accuse Republicans of hypocrisy and watch them stumble. But this time, the script didn’t play out the way CBS expected.
CBS Tries the “Republican Cities” Trap
During her appearance, host Ed O’Keefe pounced with what he clearly believed was a devastating question. He rattled off a list of Republican-run cities dealing with crime, demanding to know why the Trump administration wasn’t sending federal help there.
“There are Republican cities with major crime issues as well, and we haven’t heard about plans to deploy, say, to Dallas or to Oklahoma City, or to cities in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi that have considerable crime rates, in some cases higher, percentage-wise, than those other cities you mentioned,” O’Keefe pressed.
