Secretary Noem rushed to the officer’s side in the hospital, then unloaded on NYC Mayor Eric Adams in a scorching press conference.
“There’s absolutely zero reason that someone who is scum of the earth like this should be running loose on the streets of New York City,” Noem said.
And she didn’t stop there.
“He was arrested four different times in New York City, and because of the mayor’s policies and sanctuary city policies, was released back to do harm to people and to individuals living in this city.”
Records show Mora had a disturbing rap sheet: felony grand larceny, assaulting a pregnant woman, and criminal contempt. He even had an active warrant in Massachusetts for armed robbery at a pawn shop—where, notably, firearms were stolen.
Authorities are now investigating whether one of those stolen guns was used in this attack.
The second suspect, Aybar-Berroa, had been ordered deported in 2023. But thanks to New York’s sanctuary stance, ICE detainers were ignored. Instead of being removed, he was arrested eight more times—including charges for grand larceny, reckless endangerment, and petit larceny. Just last month, he was convicted again and set free under a conditional discharge.
Former ICE Director Tom Homan didn’t hold back at the same press event:
“Sanctuary cities are sanctuaries for criminals. Full stop.”
President Trump echoed the outrage in a Truth Social post:
“Crime in American Cities started to significantly rise when they went to cashless bail. The worst criminals are flooding our streets and endangering even our great law enforcement officers. It is a complete disaster, and must be ended, immediately!”
According to Noem, attacks on federal officers have exploded—by over 830%—since Trump re-entered the White House. But the cause isn’t Trump’s policies. It’s the radical left’s war on law enforcement.
“They are out on the streets, and violence against them has increased over 500% since Trump has gone back into the White House – because he’s upholding the law, and because a bunch of liberals, socialists, and Marxists are out there lying about what President Trump is doing,” Noem stated.
Mayor Adams, now running as an independent amid corruption investigations, tried to deflect blame. He claimed he didn’t create the revolving-door justice system. But Noem wasn’t buying it.
“When I look at what Mayor Adams has done to New York City, it breaks my heart to see the families that have suffered because of his policies,” she said.
The hypocrisy runs deep. Adams previously warned that mass illegal immigration could “destroy” New York City—yet continued to uphold sanctuary policies that protect violent criminals from deportation.
Law enforcement sources now believe the same suspects may be linked to a violent armed robbery in Leominster, Massachusetts. A pawn shop owner was duct-taped and held at gunpoint while firearms were stolen—raising serious concerns that the weapons were later used in the NYC attack.
This incident is not isolated—it’s part of a bigger crisis fueled by Democrat leadership that prioritizes illegal immigrants over public safety. Both suspects had multiple chances to be deported. Instead, liberal policies gave them free rein until it nearly cost a federal officer his life.
Noem made the administration’s position clear:
“This individual should have been deported and never been in this country.”
Despite his injuries, the officer is recovering and praised for his courage. CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott said the agent displayed “extraordinary courage,” helping subdue his attackers even after being shot.
Federal charges are pending for both suspects—but the real issue is the leadership enabling this crisis.
President Trump isn’t waiting for another tragedy. His administration is already ramping up ICE operations in sanctuary cities.
“Sanctuary cities are going to be flooded with ICE agents,” Homan warned.
The Biden administration created this mess—but it’s President Trump who’s cleaning it up, one deportation at a time. The American people demanded law and order—and that’s what they’re getting.
Come November, voters will decide whether to keep this restoration going—or let Democrat chaos reign.
