“I’m not sure what the — if I may, Senator, I’m not sure what the time horizon of the question is,” she said.

Senator Kennedy wasn’t just asking questions — he came armed with receipts.
“I’ve read your stuff and, and I’ve read your writings,” Kennedy began. “I don’t wanna get bogged down with this, but I have little respect for your opinion because I’ve read your stuff.”
What followed was a brutal breakdown of Shaw’s blatant hypocrisy. Kennedy highlighted how Shaw had once attacked judges who ruled against Biden’s policies, accusing them of acting like partisan hacks.
He quoted her saying judges were “acting like they’re politicians in robes” and appearing as “crass political actors.”
But now, with Trump poised to reclaim power, Shaw seemed perfectly fine with aggressive judicial activism. Kennedy called it exactly what it is: partisanship wrapped in academic camouflage.
“But now that President Trump’s in the White House — who you dislike — you think that universal injunctions taste like pumpkin pie,” he said.
And just when Shaw thought the grilling was over, Kennedy dropped the hammer.
He reminded her of a statement she made on April 22, 2024, on her podcast — where she flat-out labeled some Supreme Court justices as “evil.”
“On April 22nd, 2024, you said there are some members of the Supreme Court that are evil,” Kennedy stated. “Which justices were you talking about?”
Shaw tried to deny it.
“I’ll take it at your word, Senator. I don’t recall using that word,” she said.
Bad move.
Kennedy immediately pulled the transcript:
“You said, quote, ‘Justice Kagan, I mean, will she be able to control the opinion’s future distortion by her evil colleagues? Probably not.’ End quote.”
Shaw weakly claimed it was a “transcription error.” Kennedy wasn’t buying it.
“No, you said it. Why don’t you own up to it? Which ones do you think are evil?”
With nowhere to run, Shaw said nothing.
Then came Kennedy’s final judgment — and it was scorching.
“You’re embarrassed that you made that statement, aren’t you?” he asked.
When Shaw tried to deflect by saying she doesn’t speak that way in her classroom, Kennedy hit back:
“You did right here… on your podcast. April 22nd, 2024. Big. As. Dallas.”

“And you’re an officer of the court, and you’re here advising us to be respectful of federal judges. And you say there are evil members of the United States Supreme Court. Gag me with a spoon. You’re part of what’s the problem in all of this.”

Kate Shaw didn’t just contradict herself — she got caught trying to lie her way out of it.
