Historically, a small group of elite legacy media journalists—chosen by the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA)—determined which 13 reporters had the privilege of questioning the President in exclusive settings such as the Oval Office and Air Force One.
Trump’s administration took a different approach. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that the press team would personally select the journalists included in the press pool. This move was intended to break the mainstream media’s monopoly and allow more diverse outlets to participate.
Jean-Pierre, however, painted this effort as something far more sinister.
The Left’s Meltdown Over Press Access
Co-host Sunny Hostin praised Jean-Pierre’s tenure and lamented her absence from the briefing room before asking for her take on Trump’s press pool shake-up.
“They’ve taken over control of press pool coverage for the first time, I think. What is your view of what is happening, and do you have any advice for the current Press Secretary?” Hostin inquired.
Jean-Pierre wasted no time comparing the decision to authoritarian regimes.
“There are 13 members of the pool. I’ll try not to get too wonky here, and their job—provide unbiased information to the American people because the American people deserve that,” she said.
Her claim is laughable considering legacy media’s long history of spinning narratives in favor of Democrats while relentlessly attacking Trump.
The Real Reason the Left is Panicking
Jean-Pierre’s outrage isn’t about press freedom—it’s about control.
“And when the White House press team decides to step in and override the White House Correspondents Association, who they have the job of doing that, then what we’re looking at is state TV,” Jean-Pierre ranted. “What we’re looking at is what Russia is doing. What we’re looking at is what North Korea is doing. And we are doing that. They are attacking the fiber of the freedom of the press. They are destroying it because they want to be covered in a friendly way.”
In reality, the Trump administration’s decision stripped power from an insider clique of anti-Trump journalists and created opportunities for alternative voices. Legacy media elites, who were accustomed to controlling the narrative, are now scrambling to reclaim their influence.
One prime example of media bias? White House Correspondents Association’s Eugene Daniels, who reportedly sought a job on Kamala Harris’ campaign and is now heading to MSNBC—a network known for its left-wing slant.
Jean-Pierre’s meltdown isn’t about democracy. It’s about losing the ability to curate which reporters get access and ensuring only friendly narratives make headlines.

The Media’s Power Grab Exposed
For decades, the establishment media dictated press coverage to suit their own interests. Under Trump, that changed. Independent voices finally had a seat at the table—something the left simply can’t tolerate.
Jean-Pierre’s desperate attempt to liken a pro-access policy to North Korean propaganda isn’t just dishonest—it’s insulting to the American people. The only ones threatened by this change are the legacy media elites who’ve long considered themselves the gatekeepers of information.
The real story here isn’t about democracy being at risk. It’s about a press corps so used to running the show that any challenge to their dominance sends them into full-blown panic mode.
