With just over a week left before Election Day, a new poll out of Virginia has thrown a significant curveball into the race. The Quantus Insights poll, released today, reveals that Vice President Kamala Harris holds a razor-thin lead over former President Donald Trump. Harris is currently leading Trump by only one point, 49% to 48%, adding a surprising twist to a state that many thought was safely leaning blue.
Virginia, once a Democratic stronghold, is now showing signs of unpredictability as the election nears. Although early in the cycle the state seemed to be reliably Democratic, Harris is now barely hanging on, clinging to a narrow lead. The poll paints a picture of a deeply divided electorate, with Harris commanding the support of women voters at 53% to Trump’s 44%. Meanwhile, Trump continues to draw significant support from men, leading Harris 52% to 45% among male voters.

One of the key factors bolstering Harris’s lead in Virginia is the overwhelming support she has from younger voters. According to the poll, Harris is popular with voters aged 18-29, earning 53% of their support. She performs even better among voters aged 30-44, capturing 55% of that demographic. Trump, on the other hand, performs far better with older Virginians. He leads with 52% among voters aged 45-64 and 65+, a crucial bloc that could swing the state in his favor.
