Judge Who Targeted Stone Strikes Again!

A federal judge appointed by former President Barack Obama has delivered a major setback to the Trump administration’s effort to restrict the use of taxpayer-funded food assistance for sugary drinks, candy, and other junk food purchases.

The ruling has reignited a growing national debate over government benefits, public health, and whether taxpayers should be financing products linked to obesity, diabetes, and other chronic diseases.

At the center of the controversy is U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, a familiar figure in some of Washington’s most politically charged legal battles. Her latest decision halted a Trump administration initiative that had gained support from more than twenty states seeking greater control over how Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are spent.
