At the center of the push is what some are calling the most sweeping Republican policy package in modern history. The plan includes trillions in tax cuts, energy expansion, border security, and welfare reforms. The real kicker? GOP leaders are using budget reconciliation to sidestep Democrat obstruction in the Senate.

“I’ve said all along, my goal is for the president to sign this one big, beautiful bill on July 4th,” said House Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo., in a statement to Fox News.
The legislative sprint is focused on extending and expanding Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), with added cuts targeting overtime pay, gratuities, and Social Security benefits for retirees. If Congress fails to act, many Americans could face a tax hike of over 20% when the TCJA provisions expire at the end of the year.
