It’s official: Lauren Boebert Wins Reelection

Representative Lauren Boebert, a Republican from Colorado, speaks during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas, Texas, US, on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022. The Conservative Political Action Conference launched in 1974 brings together conservative organizations, elected leaders, and activists.

Rep Lauren Boebert has successfully defended her position as Colorado’s Republican representative after a protracted and difficult campaign. Adam Frisch, a Democrat, tried very hard during a very long recount period, but it was ultimately not enough for him to win this desired seat.

Just days after the election, a drawn-out recount process was launched, and Lauren Boebert was proclaimed the winner against Scott Frisch. Even though she won Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District by a slim margin of only 551 votes, Sos Jena Griswold made the official announcement of her victory Monday night. Despite this encouraging development for Boebert’s supporters, her opponent graciously resigned defeat before the votes were even tallied. Recognizing his slim chance of winning, he gracefully withdrew despite the statute’s requirement for recounts when election day margins are less than 0.5%.

“The mandatory recount for U.S. Congressional District 3 and permissive recount of House District 43 are complete and have confirmed the results of the races. Colorado’s elections are safe, secure, and accurate,” Griswold said in a statement.

“I commend the election workers from across the state and my office for conducting these recounts and for their continued work to make Colorado the best place to cast a ballot.”

Just 536 votes separated the candidates in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District after a laborious recount, giving Boebert an exciting victory.

With a special election set for February 21, 2023, in Virginia, Rep. Donald McEachin’s passing has created a rare chance for the 118th US Congress to assess its power structure. The Republicans will continue to lead with 222 members of Congress until then, but if Democrats prevail in the now hotly contested race, their advantage may be lessened.

One of the major surprises of the 2022 midterm elections was Lauren Boebert’s victorious congressional campaign in a seat widely perceived as favoring Republicans. Unlikely for a Democrat, her opponent Tom Frisch ran as a conservative and vowed not to support Nancy Pelosi’s speaker bid. However, his criticism that Boebert had lost sight of her voters in favor of her newfound popularity may have cost him on election day.

“I’m so thrilled the Republicans will now hold the gavel in the people’s House, and I’m thrilled to be representing you in that majority. Since the day I announced I was running for Congress, this has been about doing everything I can to help get our country back on track and put a hard stop to the far left’s move towards socialism,” Boebert said in a video posted to Twitter on Sunday.
