A new report has surfaced claiming that Israel is exploring a controversial plan that could see hundreds of thousands of Palestinians moved out of Gaza.
According to the Associated Press, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is entertaining the idea of relocating Gaza residents to South Sudan. The concept echoes a proposal floated earlier this year by President Donald Trump, who suggested Palestinians could be resettled elsewhere while Gaza undergoes rebuilding.
Opposition From Regional Players
Unsurprisingly, Palestinian leaders have condemned any talk of depopulating Gaza. Egypt has also voiced its concerns, fearing the plan could unleash a flood of refugees across its border. For now, conversations with other nations have remained at the “talking stage,” with no official agreements in place.
