The Trump administration’s no-nonsense approach to illegal immigration is sending shockwaves across America, as new records reveal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are rounding up unlawful migrants in numbers not seen for years.
According to recently released federal data analyzed by The New York Times, immigration arrests have skyrocketed nationwide under President Trump’s second term, with more than double the apprehensions in 38 states since January. And the momentum shows no signs of slowing.
The surge picked up steam following fresh marching orders from Trump’s trusted immigration strategist, Stephen Miller, who reportedly called for a ramp-up in arrests across the board. ICE officers, it seems, have answered that call with a vengeance.
“The pace of arrests has increased in every state compared with 2024. In 21 states and the District of Columbia, the pace has more than tripled,” said the report.
From the Lone Star State to the Sunshine State, enforcement efforts are at fever pitch. Texas alone has witnessed over 20,000 immigration arrests since Trump returned to office—even as illegal border crossings have shown a slight downturn. Meanwhile, ICE’s Miami field office, which oversees operations in Florida and Puerto Rico, reported upwards of 11,000 arrests in the same period.
