U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reportedly shattered historical records, detaining close to 60,000 illegal aliens in facilities nationwide, a surge tied directly to President Donald Trump’s escalated efforts to secure the border and enforce immigration laws.
According to CBS News, “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is holding around 59,000 detainees in facilities across the country, likely setting a record high as the Trump administration aggressively expands nationwide immigration arrests.”
The sheer volume of detainees represents not just a statistical milestone but a stark contrast to conditions when Trump returned to office earlier this year. Back in January, ICE facilities held roughly 39,000 individuals, Reuters reported—a figure that has now ballooned by more than 50 percent.
