In a stunning development, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has officially acknowledged that Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, was involved in a bribery scheme with a Romanian oligarch while his father was serving as Vice President. This revelation comes as part of a recent court filing by Special Counsel David Weiss, who is leading the investigation into Hunter Biden’s financial dealings.
The court filing reveals that Hunter Biden, along with a business associate, accepted over $3 million from Gabriel Popoviciu, a wealthy Romanian businessman. According to the DOJ, Popoviciu sought to use these payments to influence U.S. policy during a critical period in 2015 when Joe Biden was Vice President. The timing of these payments coincides with a broader effort by Popoviciu to persuade the U.S. government to intervene in a Romanian investigation into his business practices.

ABC News reports that “the government will introduce the evidence … that [Hunter Biden] and Business Associate 1 received compensation from a foreign principal who was attempting to influence U.S. policy and public opinion and cause the United States to investigate the Romanian investigation of [Popoviciu] in Romania.”
