Speaking with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Homan announced that ICE has shattered previous enforcement records, crediting the surge to expanded manpower, additional funding, and a renewed commitment by the Trump administration to aggressively enforce immigration law.
ICE Posts Historic Arrest Numbers
Homan revealed that ICE officers arrested more than 10,000 illegal immigrants in fewer than five days, marking the fastest pace of immigration arrests since President Donald Trump returned to the White House.
According to Homan, the dramatic increase did not happen by accident. He said Congress provided significant new funding, allowing ICE to expand its workforce and devote additional resources to jurisdictions that refuse to fully cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
He explained that the agency now has more officers and greater operational capability than at any previous point during the current administration, giving agents the ability to pursue immigration enforcement on a much larger scale.
The Department of Homeland Security echoed that message, making it clear that immigration laws will be enforced nationwide and that those who remain in the country illegally can expect to face arrest and removal.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also highlighted the operation’s results, stating that approximately 70 percent of those taken into custody either had criminal convictions or were already facing criminal charges. Homan indicated he expects those numbers to continue rising as enforcement efforts expand.
Homan Challenges Healey’s Claims
During the interview, Laura Ingraham turned the conversation toward Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, asking whether the governor has ever publicly acknowledged families affected by crimes committed by illegal immigrants.
Homan’s response was direct.
He answered that she has not.
The border czar argued that Healey has repeatedly denied operating a sanctuary state while, in practice, overseeing policies that make federal immigration enforcement significantly more difficult.
The disagreement between the two officials is not new. Earlier this year, ICE conducted a large-scale operation throughout the Boston area, resulting in hundreds of arrests. Following those enforcement actions, Healey maintained that Massachusetts cooperates with federal authorities whenever required by law.
Homan disagrees with that assessment.
He pointed to court decisions in Massachusetts that prevent many local jails from honoring ICE detainers, forcing federal agents to locate illegal immigrants after they have already been released into neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities.
According to Homan, those policies increase the risks faced by both law enforcement officers and the public while making immigration enforcement far more difficult than necessary.
“We Can’t Wait For Them To Commit Another Crime”
Perhaps the most striking moment of the interview came when Homan explained the philosophy driving ICE’s current enforcement strategy.
“We can’t wait for them to commit another crime to find them,” Homan told Ingraham.
That statement reflects what Homan says is a major shift in federal immigration enforcement.
Rather than waiting until illegal immigrants are arrested again, ICE is now actively locating individuals with final removal orders, expired legal status, or other immigration violations before another crime can occur.
Homan said his conversations with families who lost loved ones to crimes committed by illegal immigrants continue to motivate his work.
He explained that meeting grieving parents is one of the primary reasons he twice came out of retirement to serve President Trump, saying those families never received a warning before tragedy struck.
The administration’s reported goal of approximately 2,000 immigration arrests each day reflects that preventative approach.
Instead of reacting after another criminal offense has taken place, ICE is attempting to identify and remove individuals before additional victims are created.
Homan also referenced recent Supreme Court decisions affecting Haitian nationals whose temporary protections have expired, indicating that enforcement efforts involving those cases are expected to intensify as additional resources become available.
Sanctuary States Face Increased Federal Pressure
Massachusetts is not the only state finding itself in the administration’s crosshairs.
Homan has repeatedly stated that sanctuary cities and states across the country will continue seeing expanded ICE operations, regardless of objections from state and local officials.
Federal detention numbers have reportedly climbed above 63,000 during the recent enforcement surge, underscoring the scale of the administration’s immigration strategy.
With additional funding, more agents, and an expanded operational footprint, Homan made clear that the administration has no intention of slowing down.
For governors who continue resisting greater cooperation with ICE, the message from the Trump administration appears unmistakable: federal immigration enforcement will move forward regardless of state-level opposition.
If Homan’s latest comments are any indication, the record-breaking arrests seen over the past several days may represent only the beginning of a much broader nationwide crackdown.
