The people of Gaza are once again witnessing a reign of terror at the hands of Hamas. As a shaky ceasefire with Israel takes effect, Hamas has launched a deadly campaign to crush internal dissent and reassert dominance over a population exhausted by war.
According to Reuters, the militant group has already killed more than 30 people as it battles its rivals inside Gaza. A fierce gunfight broke out in Gaza City between Hamas fighters and an opposing gang, leaving 32 members of the rival group and six Hamas fighters dead. This is the bloody price Hamas is willing to inflict to stay in power.
Chilling videos flooding social media show masked men dressed in Hamas-style uniforms executing three men in the street — the victims were denounced by a crowd as “collaborators.” The public executions are a stark reminder of how Hamas governs: through fear, not leadership.
As the guns fall silent between Israel and Hamas, a new kind of fight is beginning inside Gaza itself. With no clear authority filling the vacuum left by the conflict, many Gazans are openly questioning whether Hamas can maintain control. The Times of Israel reported growing frustration and defiance among local factions who see the group as weakened and isolated.
