Google Caught Manipulating ‘Trump Assassination’ Searches!

In a surprising revelation, Google admitted last week that its search engine had been censoring queries related to GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, including an assassination attempt against him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. The tech giant claims the issue stemmed from an outdated algorithm, but the explanation has done little to calm the growing unease over potential election interference by one of the world’s most influential corporations.

During a House Judiciary Committee hearing, legal representatives from Alphabet, Google’s parent company, acknowledged that the search engine’s autocomplete feature had prevented users from finding information about the assassination attempt on Trump. The company justified this censorship by citing a prohibition against searches related to political violence—a safeguard that had reportedly not been updated to reflect current events.
