Clancy, 36, is accused of killing her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and eight-month-old Callan — inside the family’s Duxbury home on January 24, 2023.
Her legal team has not disputed the allegation that the children were strangled with exercise bands. Instead, the defense has argued that Clancy was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and should therefore be found not criminally responsible for the deaths.
Prosecutors have presented a dramatically different interpretation of the events.
They contend that Clancy knew exactly what she was doing and understood that killing her children was wrong. According to the prosecution’s theory, she deliberately arranged for her husband, Patrick Clancy, to leave the home to pick up food and medication before carrying out the killings.
Afterward, Clancy jumped from a second-story window. She survived but was left paralyzed and now uses a wheelchair.
The case has generated intense public debate, particularly as groups of women have appeared outside Plymouth County Courthouse wearing pink and carrying signs declaring, “She Needed Help.”
For Corbett-Dillon, however, the demonstrations represented something deeply troubling: a public campaign that he argued had shifted attention away from the three children who died and toward the woman accused of killing them.
“These are man-hating women that are standing outside,” Corbett-Dillon said. “This is what it’s about. They think the husband did it. They’re crazy. They’ve lost their minds.”
The commentator continued his criticism of Clancy’s supporters, arguing that their activism had crossed the line from sympathy into outright defense.
“They say that Lindsay was in psychosis. I think these women are suffering from psychosis,” he said. “They’ve been watching too many true-crime Netflix dramas.”
Corbett-Dillon also questioned the claim that Clancy had been abandoned by the medical and social support systems before the killings.
“This was an incredibly privileged woman, incredibly wealthy. She had a nanny, and she’s still complaining that she needed help,” he said. “She could not have gotten more help from the system than she already received.”
Watkins repeatedly attempted to push back, arguing that acknowledging Clancy’s mental health struggles did not necessarily mean excusing what happened to the children.
“I don’t think anybody’s defending what she did, but you can have empathy for what she went through,” Watkins said.
Corbett-Dillon was unmoved.
“What are they thinking? They’re defending this woman,” he fired back.
The disagreement quickly became personal as Watkins grew increasingly frustrated with his remarks.
“What you just said was absolutely disgusting,” Watkins snapped. “You should be ashamed of yourself.”
“You clearly don’t care, so pipe down,” she added.
Corbett-Dillon then turned directly toward male viewers and offered his own blunt assessment of the controversy.
“Men watching this, if you have a woman sitting next to you on the sofa who is defending this murderer, you’ve got to think deeply about this,” he said.
That appeared to be the breaking point for Watkins.
“I’ve had it with you!” she declared before walking away from the discussion.
After the confrontation, Corbett-Dillon addressed the exchange on X, writing: “FEMINIST MELTDOWN & STORMS OFF! Why are so many women defending Lindsay Clancy!? They’ve lost their minds!”

The broader debate surrounding the Clancy trial has become increasingly bitter. Supporters of Clancy argue that her mental state at the time of the killings is central to determining her criminal responsibility, while critics argue that public sympathy has too often focused on the defendant rather than the three children who lost their lives.
The trial has also produced conflicting expert testimony.
The defense has maintained that Clancy experienced command hallucinations and was “frankly psychotic.” Defense psychiatrist Dr. Phillip Resnick testified that she believed she was being controlled like a “puppet.”
But prosecution expert Dr. Kirk Heilbrun offered a sharply different conclusion, testifying that Clancy retained “moral awareness,” understood the criminal nature of her conduct, and could be held responsible for the deaths.
The ultimate decision now rests with the jury.
If convicted of first-degree murder, Clancy could receive life in prison without the possibility of parole. If she is found not criminally responsible, she could instead be committed to a Massachusetts psychiatric facility.
The legal arguments over psychosis, mental illness, responsibility, and punishment will undoubtedly continue.
But beneath the television clashes, courthouse demonstrations, and political arguments is the central tragedy of the case.
Three children — Cora, Dawson, and Callan — are dead.
Whatever verdict the jury ultimately reaches regarding Lindsay Clancy’s mental condition, that devastating reality remains unchanged.
