A stunning new allegation from General Michael Flynn is adding fuel to speculation that key figures inside the intelligence community are orchestrating a rift between President Donald Trump and his director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard. In a candid interview with Benny Johnson, Flynn made the bombshell claim that Gabbard was “set up” — handed faulty intel in an effort to derail her growing influence with the President.
The controversy ignited after Gabbard told Congress that Iran is still far from developing a nuclear weapon — a statement Trump publicly rebuked, saying he didn’t “care” what she thought as he weighs whether to take military action against Tehran.
“I’m trying to do my part to help them,” Flynn told Johnson. “Tulsi Gabbard is effective.”
Flynn’s defense of Gabbard follows a similar show of support from Vice President J.D. Vance, who backed her on social media. Both men appear to believe Gabbard’s now-infamous comments were the result of a carefully orchestrated trap.
